About "Piper"

"Piper": Pied Piper Comes to Dust Bowl Town

It has been nearly 800 years since the historical Pied Piper first piped the children of Hamelin off into the mountains (or was it the river?) but audiences of all ages are still running after him, clamoring to hear more of this enchanting story. Now Maryland Ensemble Theatre presents "Piper" which sets the ancient fable in the American Dust Bowl at the height of the Great Depression. A charming con man with a mysterious power drifts into a poor migrant town. Then, in this parable full of folk and gospel music, he and the residents of Hamelin learn what happens when faith is tested, promises are broken and greed threatens to turn everything to dust. Experience "Piper", the MET's annual community collaboration with Frederick Community College and The Ensemble School, at Jack B. Kussmaul Theater.
