Located on cobblestoned P Street, NW in a period row house just steps away from Wisconsin Avenue, NW, POPPY spotlights one-of-a-kind pieces and commissions from jewelry designer Heidi Hess. Monthly shows spotlight work from other fresh designers who create one –of- a- kind, thought- provoking jewelry employing a plethora of techniques.

POPPY, named for Hess’s nickname, takes its palette from the flower. A deep purple hearth ablaze in a red accent wall welcomes visitors. White distressed wood floors, an antique display case, and a white rough hewn table where clients can settle in, enjoy espresso on offer, and browse through Hess’s commissions portfolio complete the warm mix. “Firelight is to a room what gold
and silver are to jewelry—glowing, evocative,” says proprietor Heidi Hess. “I want visitors to think of the shop as my parlor, as a place where stories are shared and pieces are created that reflect the personal history of the wearer.”
